About Me

My photo
We have lived in Romania for 16 years now. We have 6 kids. The top photo of our family is the day we met the twins, just before their 4th birthday. We were granted custody of them on their 5th birthday.

Kids Club

Zach, diligently reads the Bible every day. He is reading through the Bible. He told me he skipped the hard parts of Leviticus :). He said he skipped to parts that he could learn a lesson from. I told him that was ok!
This is Lidia. She is a Hungarian-Gypsy. I believe there are 7 kids in her family. It is always hard to be sure when they are telling the truth or when they just don't know the answer so they give you one. A group of Hungarian Gypsy kids have been coming to kids club and Sunday School. They don't know how old they are. Lidia told me she was 6 one day but then she told me she was in 3rd grade. Her cousin, Avraam, told me he was 9 and that he was also in 3rd grade with Lidia. So, I asked Lidia if she was 9 and she said, "oh, yes I'm 9." Then she brought a little brother who looked about 2 or 3 and they told me he was 5. Zoli, the 5 year old tells me he is 10. They can fluently speak 3 languages, Hungarian, Romanian, and Gypsy. The boys will say something to me in Gypsy and ask if I know what it means and then the girls tell me they aren't saying nice things. I am trying to get them to speak only Romanian at church!
We had 26 kids at kids club Saturday. The boys were upset when we played this game. They said, "oh man, the girls are going to win because they are better at sweeping then we are." We continue to pray that as these kids come and the Word of God is planted in their hearts that they will give their lives to Jesus!

Baron has had many opportunities lately for witness. We realize how important it is to build relationships here. He has had many chances to talk to church neighbors, and others of Christ's love for them and how they can know they can have eternal life. So many people here just think that no one can know that. There is one young man who is especially open. Baron will be visiting with him at the end of this week. He is caring for his dying father so he is probably thinking more on eternal things. He has been to church a lot lately and heard the salvation message clearly since Baron is preaching through Romans.

Family

OH, how I love my pacifier...it doesn't matter if it is right side up or upside down, just as long as it is in my mouth. I have pacifiers all over the house. They are in my crib, under my crib, on the floor...I hunt for them and then when I find them I shove them in my mouth. My mom likes them because sometimes they keep me quiet but not always. I am pretty good at yelling even with the pacifier in my mouth. I am not sure how my mom will ever get this thing away from me but my brothers all sucked one of their digits on their hand and she got them to stop so I guess maybe it won't be too hard...That's what SHE thinks! Here is me and my pacifier...cute huh?

Life in Romania

For those of you who don't know...this summer when we were in the states, our house was broken into and we were robbed. He mostly took stuff that belonged to the family staying at our house but he also took our church offering and a few other things of ours. It was a teen age boy from our church who had been in our home many times. Well, Baron was summoned to court in Jan and he also went yesterday. It is his job to "prosecute" the thief even though the thief is out of the country and not present at his own trial. We could pay a lawyer to do it but we wolud be out a couple hundred dollars and we will most likely not recoup any of our losses. So, Baron is going and he takes Laurientiu with him to make sure he understands everything. I wish I could go Baron tells me it is a comical sight. First, you show up at 9 and just sit and listen to all these cases waiting for your case to be called...you swear to tell the truth while holding a big metal cross...no I'm not kidding. So, here is just one of the cases he heard. A 17 year old and a 26 year old on trial for robbery. Baron's friend tells him the 26 year old is known to lead a band of young thieves all over the country and out of the country. Here is the story, the 17 is going to take all the blame b/c the ring leader convinces these young men they are minors and they will not do any time so you take the blame b/c I will have to go to jail. The 17 year old was in the house alone in the dark at 11 pm and the 26 year old was just sitting in his car and this kid knocks on his car window and asks him to help him take some stuff out this window and put it in his car so he does and he holds the stuff in his car for 2 days. The judge asks the 26 year old, "don't you think it is kind of strange or suspicious that at 11 at night this kid wants to hand you stuff through the window of a house?" He replies, "no, not really." They go back to court the same day that Baron goes back so I am curious to see if the judge will judge fairly or just go with what story they gave and only charge the 17 year old.
After sitting and waiting for 2 hours Baron is finally called. He brings forth his evidence, at the last court date the judge wanted him to gather info, receits so she could be sure that the value of the stolen items were correct. He gave her the info and that was it. He goes back in March.
On a different note, Baron has had opportunities to talk with some of the young men at his soccer outreach on Monday nights. Pray for open hearts and that God would move in their lives and show them their need of salvation.

Winter Blah's

Well, it is official...I have the winter blah's! I had hoped they would fly away with January but they are still here. I am so glad that I have internal joy in my Savior to get me through the down times and the up times. Life is a constant struggle and my hightest aim is to become more like Christ and I believe that most happens in the down times. I am trusting God for many things this year. I am expecting many miracles. I believe that God is in control and he will work all things out for His glory. I am so thankful that He pulled me out of the pit and set my feet on the rock that I could never have reached alone. "Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy. How awesome is the Lord most High, the great King over all the earth!"

Psalm 47:1-2. Here is a little picture of two of my sunshines to brighten dark winter days.

More Pictures...Enjoy!

Kids club

Today we had kids club. Attendance was down due to the yucky weather. It started out as a pretty snow but it warmed up as the day went on and turned to slush. My house was quiet this evening. I didn't know what to do with myself. Zach, Spence, and Drew are spending the night at their Romanian grandma's house. Maria called me around 8 tonight to tell me that Zach was upset because he was trying to tell her something and he didn't know how to say it. She put him on the phone and he asked me how to say "I am tired and I want to go to bed." Poor Zach. It is good for them to spend time with people who speak no English so they will learn Romanian. They were really excited about going to Maria's and being able to walk to church in the morning.

The picture of the little boy is Zoli. I call him Zorro and he thinks that is so funny. He is Hungarian/Romanian. He is 5 years old and can lie like it is second nature. He came last week without any socks on and it was so cold. He is from a family of 11. The snow pictures are from today.
